Feel confident with a date from Dukes of Daisy

Meet Daisy.... this is her story about how she started Dukes of Daisy and the success of the business as well as reassurance of why Dukes of Daisy is different to the regular escort agency.

It all started about 9 years ago when I booked my first rent a man, I remember being a little bit nervous - in fact the thought of the whole thing made me want gag. My main concerns were what if people find out I used an escort, what if people recognise the escort I'm with and at the back of my mind, what's going to happen at the end of the evening. I wasn't looking for anything sexual at the time, I just wanted some one to accompany me to the annual ball that my company held each year as everyone else seemed to have a partner coming.

I was at an age where people expected me to be married with children or at least have a man in my life. Being career driven meant I didn't dedicate much thought to any of those things. Not to mention children are a handful.

After changing my mind several times I decided to just go for it and got in touch with an agency that had been recommended to me at the time. I decided that I'd book an escort for dinner first so I could pan out if he'd be acceptable before I expose him to my colleagues. I spoke to Jonathan over the phone before our dinner 'date'. He knew exactly what I was feeling and put me at ease.

I booked a table at a restaurant I'd never been to and anyone who knew me wouldn't be likely to turn up. I got to the restaurant half an hour early and even prepared some questions I would ask Jonathan.

When he arrived, I was expecting an extremely handsome man that would use a bunch of corny lines then try to bed me. He was indeed handsome, but a complete gentlemen. I paid him up front for the 3 hours we agreed upon and he was very considerate, charming and listened closely. He's focus was completely on me, he made me feel like I was the only person in the room.I was completely at ease and at the end of the evening we went our separate ways.

2 weeks later, Jonathan accompanied me to the ball. I introduced him as simply Jonathan. Even though there was unlimited alcohol he remained on the ball and made sure I was well looked after. My boss got on well with him and Jonathan always seemed to know what to say no matter the situation or the questions.

My experience with Jonathan put me in high spirits, I had seen another side to rent a friend male escorts and decided I would definitely use them again.

Over the following years I used several escorts from various agencies and had become well acquainted with what was to be expected from a professional escort. Though there were several occasions that my chosen companion offered to 'come back to mine' or tried to get a sneaky goodnight kiss. Most of my experiences were exceptional. I even began recommending some of the gentlemen I met to close friends and colleagues. Before I knew it, I had gathered a group of gentlemen that were keeping busier through my recommendations than with the agencies they paid extortionate fees to register with.

After being made redundant in the Autumn - a close friend who I had met on an escort date suggested I start my very own agency. After all I had all the experience to know the types of escorts to avoid and already had a good social circle of regular 'clients'. More importantly than that, I wanted other women to experience the benefit of having a professional escort at their side, and change the negative perception people have of those within the escort industry.

I've been operating Dukes of Daisy through recommendations alone and have managed to build a strong client base of Ladies and Gentlemen. I would be honoured if you joined our thriving community as a Duke or a Daisy and see how rewarding it can be.

DIY Marquees have hundreds of marquees to choose from

DIY Marquees commercial marquees for sale have the most useful interesting tips on how to go about erecting a marquee, looking after your marquee and loads of information on general marquee maintenance.

Following (always useful) feedback from customers DIY Marquees have introduced a marquee tool section. This enables them to become more of a one shop stop for start up or existing marquee hire companies.

Keep a look out for further tools which will be added soon.

They are particularly proud of the marquee stake puller that could be a great help when dismantling marquees, unlike most stake pullers it is also very light so fits in nicely with their marquees that pack down to surprisingly small volumes.

Should you require any tools that are not listed please contact DIY Marquees who will design/source them for you.

Have a look at this interesting article I found on HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CLEAN YOUR MARQUEE?

The obvious answer is whenever it needs it so maybe a better question would be how often should you expect to clean a marquee.

A marquee is far more likely to get dirty when being erected/dismantled rather than when it is actually up. If you’re careful when erecting and especially when dismantling the marquee then you can usually get away with a thorough clean only once or twice a season.

There are however a few exceptions:

The dirtiest marquee I have ever had was one that was erected under some trees. When it rained all of the dust and grime was washed off the leaves down on to our lovely marquee. If you’ve got to put a marquee up under trees expect to clean it immediately afterwards.

Rain-skirts by their very nature will always get muddy in the rain, these should be given a wipe over on pretty much every job.

Traffic-film – eventually PVC can have a grey layer build up which is especially difficult to remove. It takes a long time for this to happen (a year or two normally) but at this stage it needs a thorough clean using a chemical. The material also needs irritating (gone over with a brush or similar) to get this off. Once thoroughly cleaned the PVC should be as good as new.

Tree sap is a nightmare to remove.

There are also some things that will never come out:

Petrol/Diesel can stain PVC. This will never come out so avoid them at all costs.

Ingrained mould – this affects many marquees especially those that are stored when still wet. PVC is made of many layers, if a marquee is put away wet or if cheap PVC is used then water can get inside the layers and create mould which will never come out. Incidentally this is one of the reasons we use better quality 500gsm PVC than available elsewhere, it takes far longer for the layers to break down in better quality PVC.

Some garden chemicals can stain – I was shown a marquee recently that had green stains around the rain skirt which seemed to have come from a chemical added to the lawn.

Better quality PVC always helps, we use a lacquer coated PVC as it is easier to clean and lasts longer than the cheap alternatives.

Lodge Brothers Remembrance Day Displays

Here we have Cobham branch’s patriotic window display for Remembrance Day, which marked the end of World War I at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Remembrance Day Display at G.Boutell & Son

Linda Bowyer, our Funeral Arranger at G.Boutell in Byfleet, has written a wonderful poem to display in the branch window as part of the Remembrance Day display.

Also featured are excerpts from a book entitled ‘Last Letters Home’ which show the incredible emotion felt by the servicemen that fought for our country during World War I.

Lines of poppies in a row

Easy in the breeze they blow

Soldiers, sailors, and airmen in earth they rest

Their medals clasped tightly to their chest

Winter, summer, autumn and spring

Eternal rest to all, the birds do sing

Flags at half-mast in respect fly

Old comrades in arms, they cry

Remembrance Day, November each and every year

Grateful to those we hold so dear

Eagerly the people stop to bow, low

Time to remember the fallen, tears flow

Marquee Hire have affordable wedding winter marquee hire packages

mq_model2             mq_model

Here at JF Marquees and Marquee Hire recently we were very excited to have been given the opportunity to get involved with London Fashion Week.  We were approached by fashion designer Edeline Lee, who required a space in which she could showcase her brand new collection.  Edeline needed a marquee which ran alongside the rear terrace of Somerset House, exposing visitors to some fabulous views over the River Thames.

The marquee build was fairly straightforward, though we had to make sure the marquee was weighted as it was constructed directly onto the terrace.  However, the timescales were very tight, and we needed to ensure we could both build and then de rig the marquee very quickly.  This was a little tricky as we had limited access to the site, however our experienced team pulled it off and Edeline’s marquee was a success.

You can see from the image above how the structural nature of the marquee was emphasised by the layout, using a number of pods for models rather than the traditional cat walk/run way!  The lighting and sound has to be just right, and there needs to be plenty of space available for photographers and journalists as well as other guests.

It’s worth remembering that marquees aren't simply for weddings and country fairs – they are so versatile that they can be used for all sorts of occasions.  As well as providing a stand along venue, they can also be incorporated into existing buildings, therefore extending the space which is already there.  Our marquee at London Fashion Week is a good example of this, as we were able to provide an extension of a stunning location, therefore helping to add much need space and functionality to the venue.

Our Top Tips For Your Wedding Reception Checklist

rsz_1rsz_20130504-1419-5dii-w-9112_-_copy

Our Top Tips For Your Wedding Reception Checklist

Marquee Hire have had years of experience in helping couples to organise their weddings, so we’ve put together a handy wedding checklist to help brides and grooms to make sure their wedding day runs smoothly.  If you’ve planned for your wedding reception to take place in a marquee, then check out our wedding reception checklist (by no means extensive!):

  • Choose the right style of marquee.  This will vary according to the number of guests you are inviting and how you wish them to be seated – you’ll also want to make sure that your guests are sheltered from the Great British weather whilst they are enjoying their meal, so go for a walled marquee such as a Clearspan. Providing flexibility in terms of interior fit out and styling.
  • Be sure that the marquee has a suitable power supply.  It might not sound very glamorous to think about generators and electrics, but without suitable power, you won’t have lighting, heating, music or perhaps catering.  Your marquee company should be able to sort the power supply for you but double check with them to make sure they know what they are doing. Can you imagine a Wedding where the lights go out? We can’t, so ensure that this area is thoroughly checked. We use our own ECA registered electricians to carry out installations on our behalf.
  • You’ll also need to consider which flooring option you will go for – after all, many of your guests won’t be too happy if you’ve decided to just stick with the grass as your flooring option!  Consider matting to the entrance and matting or perhaps a carpeted area underneath the dining tables and, a parquet or black and white dance floor. Alternatively a hard floor throughout should the ground conditions not be suitable for matting.  See what options your marquee provider is able to offer you.
  • Have you thought about lighting?  Fluorescent strip lights won’t give a particularly romantic atmosphere, but chandeliers, uplighters and dappled lights will.  You will need to think about the lighting options for the time when your guests will be eating as well as the lighting during the evening’s entertainment.
  • Heating – you might be having a summer wedding, but with Britain’s unpredictable weather, your guests may start feeling chilly by late evening.  Consider using a thermostatically controlled heating system which can be utilised if the temperature drops during the evening.  Of course, if you’re having a winter wedding, then you’ll want the marquee to be nice and warm for when the guests arrive following the ceremony.
  • Decorations.  The way that the marquee is decorated inside can really help to reinforce the theme that you are aiming for with your wedding.  Try to keep consistency with your wedding stationery, the dress and flowers, so consider these carefully when deciding on how to decorate the marquee.  Most marquee hire companies will work with you to suggest some ideas and will help to put your plans into action.
